Mining

Nowadays, effective management of OHS and environmental issues is crucial to the success of a mining operation! ENSR staff know mining and deliver the results that are needed by our clients.

In Profile

Since performing some of the first Environmental Impact Assessments in Australia in the early 1970's, ENSR staff have undertaken hundreds of projects for mining clients involving approvals, compliance, land management, restoration and closure. The regulatory approval of the Ashton Coal Project in the Hunter Valley (White Mining) is an excellent example of how ENSR can assist mining companies to find balanced solutions when faced with complex environmental and community issues.

One of ENSR's main strengths is our ability to provide integrated approaches to water and waste management planning, and mine rehabilitation/closure. Our staff can assist clients to adopt sustainable solutions based on sound science and pragmatic engineering. ENSR's work with PT Kaltim Prima Coal in Kalimantan is a good example of how this approach can be used to design, construct and manage waste rock dumps with minimal risk of generating acid drainage.

ENSR personnel pioneered HAZOPS, CHAZOPS and risk assessments at coal mines in Australia. Of note, our staff have conducted hazard analysis workshops and training (under stringent MSHA requirements) in the USA for prominent clients such as BHPBilliton — New Mexico Coal.
